Superior
Shot Peening provides true PVC coating. That is, we do not simply
pull a PVC mold over a metal pipe or wire. Rather, Superior
Shot Peening bonds a strong PVC coating of custom thickness to the metal
substrate. This PVC coating can not easily be pulled-off, and rips
in the material will not compromise the integrity of the entire
coating.
There are many dangers in utilizing PVC slip-on-sheaths over metal
parts. First, if the sheath is breached, ripped or cut, corrosion
and water are free to flow between the PVC sheath and the metal
equipment. This effectively nullifies any corrosion protection
the PVC may have afforded. Secondly, once a non-bonded PVC coating
has been breached, the insulating and flame-retardant properties
of the PVC will be compromised. Lastly, PVC coating that is not
bonded will not retain its fluid flow properties once the metal
or the PVC are broken. A well-bonded PVC coating will have none
of these problems. Rather, a true PVC coating such as Superior
Shot Peening provides, will be permanently bonded to the metal
substrate and will maintain its protective properties even when
nicked or cut.
Superior
Shot Peening's PVC coatings have the following benefits:
- Resistant to extremely corrosive environments including extremely
acidic or basic solutions, molds and fungi, salt brine, long term
sun-exposure, sewage and certain nuclear wastes.
- Unbelievably wear-resistant. Our PVC coatings will resist earth
movements when buried, will endure long-term fluid flow (75+ years),
and will withstand rough, even abusive, handling for long periods.
- An excellent flame-retardant and insulator. The coatings will
be safe to handle even if a raw, conductive, wire is present underneath.
- Able to maintain vacuum and pressure if an underlying pipe springs
a leak.
- Fully bonded to the metal substrate through a multi-step process
including cleaning, priming, pre-coating, dipping and baking.
- Can be applied inside or outside of pipes for ultimate corrosion-protection,
fluid-mechanics and insulation.
- Fully custom-made to customer specifications. PVC coating thickness,
as well as underlying physical properties (conductance, non-conductance,
additional corrosion protection, etc.) afforded by pre-coatings
can be custom-specified.
